if u use frontpage, right click> page properties> click the background tab and simply edit the visited, hover and active link colours to your liking then hit the OK button :]

Still doesn't work, I worked around it by changing the background of contenet areas to a grey so the white would show. It's still not ideal but its a good temporary solution at least.
