    Jog/run most of the course until the final stretch, then sprint flat out.
    It totally kills you, but it knocks time off and often takes people by suprise.
    I've been doing cross country for a while and it works.

    But obviously he's not running fast enough if he cant make it under 12 minutes. He cant run at the same pace he has been and make it, because he wouldnt make it. It would be against all laws of science. So technically, he's right.

    If a person who's trained in running can do a mile in 5 minutes (and it's less than that for a lot of people - remember the one-minute mile?) then surely someone who believes themself fit enough for the army can do it in 12 minutes.

    You have to centre and black / bold everything..

    try fartlek training or interval traning this will help. (google it)
