Mages defences are bad because mages use high attacking techniques and low defensive with light-weight armour. You wouldnt want to be casting fire wave in some really heavy armour would you? it would make you magic attack go down.

so like fire wave inreallife wouldnt happen in the game, so it dont matter if your heavy ;p
