Youre not poor, there is plenty there to work with, youve just used furniture badly. One example I can think of straight away is Tiuhdur's room that was posted here a couple of weeks ago. That is worth far less than yours yet the room looks good.

Well you could space your dragons out a bit more and put yukkas against the walls which would look good with the paint scheme. Overall though a nice efort and well planned . 8/10 :]
