Bit random but do you ever have that dream when your falling and you wake up with a jolt?

well a while ago I was told that if you hit the ground you actually die and I was like I thought I did hit the ground before I woke.

who descovered that when you hit the ground your dead? and why isn't she/he dead?

I had something like that before. I was sleeping in class (not supposed to do so, was so tired), and when the teacher suddenly spoke, I woke up with a jolt.
