No I don't think so at all and it would cause a lot of extra work for the Admins. What encourages less rule breaking is fair consistent moderation but there will always be the hardcore who are quite happy to break the rules and also happy pay the consequences.

Because people are mad about rep does not mean you should crack a nut with a sledgehammer which is what it sounds like to me.

I agree with Catzsy on this one, it would cause a very large ammount of administration, and it wouldnt fall on forum moderators, it would have to be forwarded via PM then edited by a administrator with user editing permissions.

Theres no point to it, and if you ask forum super moderators on average how many infractions they give out per day, or even per month, that number is likely to be in double digits atleast.

I personally think this could go either way. I think if the idea were to be implemented then certain members would have fun getting as many Infractions as possible in order to get a negative amount of reputation. I think, on top of the fact it's too much work for the Administration team, it's a bad idea as it also attracts rule breaking as well as stops it.

Half the people in the forum don't even care about infractions though - they arn't visible, they have no point & have no concequences to them.

Cause they do - cautions, Temp bans and Perm Bans. If you are arguing that members should be penalised rep instead of infractions well that is a different discussion entirely.

I just think that there should be more severity in rule breaking. Infractions just arn't enough, but that's only my opinion. I just never see anybody complaining they got an infraction.

I don’t think you can do automatically, an admin would have to do it manually and I think that admins are already up to their neck with jobs.

It is a good idea though.

I dont think this would be a good idea because it would annoy people who buy reputation.
