Thats a good enough reason for me never to join their forum.
It would be quicker to remove your email than make some of the posts their admin made :s maybe flood their email with crap if they keep doing the same to you

Yeah I get those emails all the time, I ignore them lol

I have to agree. I'm getting the horrid "Barmi we miss you" emails, which are sent every 4 days!! Ticking "receive emails from administrators" is different from "receive spam messages when you don't want to visit any more".

I would understand if they sent an email once per month, or once every two weeks.. but every 4 days is obscene. If I don't want to visit their forum any more, I don't see why I must log back on to stop these messages.
