Hey,
As Neil said your age is locked to your gamertag along with your email (So changing the DOB on your email wont work)
As for Microsoft releasing a patch, It was posted on one of the people who works in the Xbox division of Microsoft that a patch would not be released as you gamertag gets locked with your info.
However, MSN on the Xbox isn't even that great, If you have a lot of people on your contacts list its very slow. I don't use it because it is that slow.
