Instead of mucking around with the insides of the PS2 you could just get SwapMagic and that allows you to play backups (Fake games if you will)

And its only around £30, No installation!

Get a 360, then you can stream your videos and music from your PC. Or go for the PS3 which is pure crap, and yes, i have compared because my brother has both of them. Also i am biased as i am an xbox fanboy

Also, as soon as you undo that case your warranty is void.

Yeah if your console is within a year old DEFINATLY leave the PS2 alone.

you can play fake dvds on a ps2 anyway, and copied movies from limewire, so your paying like £130 for a chip that will break your ps2 in a year and voids your warranty.

As said above, get swap magic it costs around £19.99 look on ebay, all you o is remove the front of the disk tray (it can be put back on) with no void warranty.
