Good. They are there for all the rich people not for the average working man.

    Utter rubbish.

Notice how Labour give to the sponges and how Gordon Brown has allowed the rich to get away with not paying taxes over the past 10 years?

Tories = Work hard, you'll get your money and house.

Labour = Tax everyone stupidly, let rich get away with it and give lazy morons benefits.

Would be interesting to hear your definition of sponges. Would toffs born with silver spoons in their mouths, inheriting family businesses without having to do a single day's work be considered sponges?

Tories = You're rich? Have some more money! **** anyone who actually has to pull their finger out for a wage. Oh, and while we're at it, pretend that the working class is full of benefit scammers, when in fact there's only a small percentage that abuses the system.

Labour = Higher taxes to ultimately improve the conditions of public services for the WHOLE of society. Help out those who have disabilities and as a result are unable to work, as well as those who face financial difficulties due to varying circumstances.

So you think old people sitting in their own waste is help?, Labour have left them with no care at all, all of these broken promises from Labour..

The people who inherit family busineses - so what? their parents have worked all their lives running the business and they want their sons and daughters to have a good life like them. so your saying if your mum and dad left you Vodafone, you'd give it up for free so you can do 'hard work' and struggle to get on the housing market?

Also you say improve the whole of society, but why should we help people who spend all their money on drugs and refuse to work?

Who said the whole working class are full of benefit scammers? I'd like a name who said that please. You are very confused with myths and lies over the Tory Party.

I was more referring to people who inherit businesses and sell them off without contributing, or those who inherit huge amounts of money. I just considered it ironic that these people wouldn't be considered sponges.

I think you'll find that there's only a small percentage of people on benefits who "spend all their money on drugs and refuse to work". You can jump right to that stereotype, but you'll find that the majority of people receive benefits due to varying unavoidable circumstances.

By mentioning people who accuse the working class of being benefit scammers, I was more referring to those who seem to think that exposing a few "sponges" is just cause for cutting benefits. There will always be people who cheat the system, but you can't deny others necessary resources simply because of it.

Maybe I was a little harsh with my summary of tories' views, but I was trying to show how they often abuse stereotypes to encourage an increase in wealth for the rich.

ill go with the people who want to cut down on imergrants and close the borders.

Channel 4 - There is at least one immigrant per class in the UK.
I don't mind imigrants etc. But it takes the fun out of going on holiday etc when you see all the people coming to britain. And in AU its alot harder to get in, you have to have a specific thing. Unlike britain.

They are not sponges as they are not sponging from the state (taxpayer)

The reason why many politicans like Michael Howard were campaigning to tackle immigration and benefit meltdown is because the public want to sort it out. Do you not wonder why Immigration is one of the most important issues to the voter? You think everyone is fine and happy with Labours stupidly uncontrolled immigration policy?

I have no problem with the benefit system, what I do have a problem with is that we let people in the country who come here not to work, but to live off us like leeches.

    I would introduce this.

    • If you are able bodied/minded and do not get work after 6 months, your benefits will be terminated and you will be deported.
    • You must be over the age of 45 and have a job which we need.
    • You must speak very good english.
    • You must take a test before coming in the country.
    • If you commit a crime at all, you will be deported and banned from Britain.
    + more.

We just let everyone in, no matter who they are even if they are criminals.

Well then why didn't he win the 2005 general election?

If you set the age bar at 45 then a great deal of foreign manual labourers (a large percentage of immigrants) will be unable to work here. Who will then do all the jobs that the British don't want (cleaning, for example)?

He didn't win the 2005 General Election because of the voting system, he actually got more votes than Blair but the way it works here made it so Labour continued to stay in power. It's also a shame people vote on looks rather than policy sometimes.

When I say 45, I mean if your over 45 you can't come in just incase you think it's other way around.

Most of the poles are young people so we'd still have them all coming in.

Ahh right. Yeah you said over earlier. I take back that comment then. However, there are a fair few foreign doctors who are over the age of 45. They do a lot of good.
