She said she decided this at the start of writing the series. Of course it is not true. She just thought of it now. She is angry because the attention will fade away from her. So she decided to make him gay now so people talk about it, and talk about her.

Yeah, I'm very sure the fact that she's the most successful author of all time wasn't enough fame.

Anyway, on topic. I really don't see how this should effect the book in anyway whatsoever. As mentioned, there is no significant reference to Dumbledores love life. So even if he is gay, how the hell does that impact on the books?

Though he was a bit of a flamboyant spell caster
