Recently Nvrspk4 made a thread in the Staff section about cracking down on pointless reputation, I can assure that this is exactly the sort of action that needs to be taken as he recommended it himself.

It's like me getting pointless rep like 6 months ago and you removed it..

Its stated in fairly large blue text in the report reputation problems thread

When reporting your reputation you give the Forum Administrators the right to check through your reputation and remove ANY pointless reputation, good or bad and delete it from your total. Please remember this before using this thread.

And unfortunately I cannot quote what the thread in the staff section involved due to privacy.

I have only removed any pointless reputation from 1 month prior to this date, not 3 years ago.

Pointless good rep and pointless negative rep have similar rules, if the negative rep has a point it stays, similar to positive rep and the same applies if that's inverted. Positive rep that has no point gets removed as does negative rep.

In order to answer your question I would need to quote something from the staff section which I am not at the liberty to do.
For now, this is all the explanation I can offer:

I know its a hard pill to swallow but there needs to be major changes to the reputation system, this is the way that has been decided upon without removing the reputation system completely.
