Well they can because when I was NON-Vip I use to get alot of my threads closed on my old account

They're not meant to lock non-VIPs threads by requests but they do because a lot of the time the thread has no meaning after the the user wants it closed and edits the original post.

I guess the VIP feature is an advantage as you can stop arguements and close pointless threads more quickly.
