Seriously Sam, just talk to your mum, if she doesn't want to know, cant you live with your dad? If your near him or something. You sound as if your giving as much as your receiving, maybe he's trying to be friendly as you, you cant tell him to shut the [insert bad wurdd ere] up because that's not giving him a good impression at all and that's probably why he's trying to have a laugh with you.
I'm sure a holiday will sort it all out just enjoy yourself and if he annoys you just go do something else or even talk to him about it.
