I wouldn't get to ahead of yourself, what I would do is observe the relationship between your mate and his gf and see if it looks like their going to break up. I mean my mate has a bf and well she's all over me like a rash. But that's because I look after her and make sure no idiot's harm her, anyway I would just observe the status between them both too see if it's actually worth doing anything else instead of waiting for those two to break up.
