if i were you, i'd go where not many people go to the more complicated languages to be different and also you will get more requests!

That, or learn the easy languages, apply them to the harder one, and end up actually getting good at programming. And i mean that of a general term, if you can only code in a set few languages your really not likely to get much work. Most decent programmers, should not only know a number of languages but also be able to pick up new ones as they go.
PHP is a good start
im not quite good at it but
when looking at other coding thats open source you learn alot
i watched loads of html coding turned out great success
now since everyone has moved on to php im learning through it

i would say
HTML/css = Web Pages
PHP/C++ = Applications or non online games
Javascript,Java,Flash, shock wave are online game type coding skills

If you want to learn how to create a basic good standard website then learn:
XHTML and CSS.
If you want to create a more advanced website look into:
Javascript, PHP or ASP.
If you want to work with desktop languages look into:
C++, C#, etc.
For desktop proramming languages I advise you to learn languages that can run on their own without an OS rather than a language such as Visual Basic.
Simon, Isn't VB microsoft developed and not designed for Linux?
Yeah, that's what he's saying above
It really depends what direction you want to go in. If you want to go for web technologies, I'd definitely say PHP, as it's a very versatile language, and will run on an array of different platforms. As for desktop applications, I'd have no idea - not an area I've delved into, unfortunately![]()
I want to go into game dev.![]()
