    I think he means like with the current war in Iraq, you don't have to do it but you still do and your risking losing your family. Same with trainsurfing. It's the same principal.

    Okies let me use a diffrent example, when you go swimming in the sea there is a high chance of you drowning but you still do it.
    He has made all the risks smaller so he has a better chance of living.
    Btw just for the record, i have family in the Mil and im joining.

    What you planning on joining like?
    My dad was in the navy doing bomb disposal
    My uncle in the royal marines
    My brother in the army working with the apaches
    and im going in to either be a gunner in or something in IT in the RAF

    I was going to become a gunner in the army since women arnt allowed in infantry

    since im in college imthinking of joining the territorial army

    Erm thats the one thing id say not to join, you can get called up at any time to go. Where as in the army once you have done ur time ur done.
    But its upto you
