First of all, she's been with her boyfriend nearly a year and didn't want to jeopardize that, it's a serious relationship, not some stupid two week thing.
You know about his depression and how his tablets make him paranoid.
She'd known you a few weeks Matt, and I know she thought a lot of you, you know that you know far more about her situation than anyone else and that without him she wouldn't really have anything.
And he's not controlling at all as far as I can see, he's just worried about losing her as she's all he has.
