Well I'm not sure, but the MYSQL DB has passwords encrypted into MD5 (Not sure if its a vBulletin thing) But, MD5 isnt that hard to crack, and Habbohutforum had thousands of users, so there wouldnt really be a need to change a pass,

Unless you was a popular poster?

To stop the speculation, here is your answer.

    To all Habbo Fansite users,

    RE: Habbohut Forum Intrusion

On the 31st of December, 2007 the Habbohut Forum was broken into by a duo called Rory and Finch. These are Habbos who believe it is fun to destroy peoples’ voluntary work which they put into Fansites.

I am sad to say this is Habbohut’s first major breach with security however the safety of it’s users and other staff was never compromised. The only area accessed was forum administration which resulted in accounts being deleted and the forum being redirected. We are safe to say that other than this, users were never exposed to threats such as key loggers or virus’s.

The cause of the intrusion was a managers Messenger account being accessed therefore moving through accounts to gain access to the Habbohut Forum. I would like to take this opportunity to remind Habbos the importance of different passwords, different emails and changing passwords on a regular basis.

To all users who say Habbohut was hacked, you are incredibly mistaken. Rory and Finch did no such thing to Habbohut except get lucky trying a few passwords they gained from a manager who wasn’t secure enough.

In conclusion, the manager responsible for the intrusion is no longer with the site and procedures are currently being reviewed to ensure something like this will never disrupt the site again.

It is safe to say that the site is back up and running as usual and there was and still is no security threat to its users.

Thank you for your cooperation and apologies for any worry or inconvenience this issue may have caused.
