They can't be stopped though

. So all these bots could register is that security code wasn't there.

The bots are there to archive and "crawl" your sites for the search engine they are for.

Thats how things get on google,

Yep. Spider-bots are search engine bots. While regular bots are spam/advertising bots.

We have bots indentified on our forums, in other words, if these are bots they are not from the major search engines.
