Then how will they find this nutter? Having an ID Card won't prevent a murder and a terrorist before blowing himself up won't stop and think 'opps I haven't got an ID Card, I won't blow myself up now'. What if you are picked? There are millions/thousands of companies and bad people out there who would love to have access to your personal data and ID Cards are a very big help to them.

people are over reacting about this :S OMG NO IT'S LIKE BIG BROTHER, GOVERNMENT WILL HAVE MY FINGERPRINTS. look, anyone can get your finger prints and you'd be none the wiser. and if the data being released has been done before then the government will learn from their mistakes.

however i am still undecided, but lol at the people having a paddy fit about it.

I don't see the problem, people could steal your ID card but they can't exactly steal your fingerprint. And I fail to see how having your fingerprint on record is like big brother.

this seems a bit on par with our warrentless wiretapping here in the united states. people say if you havent done anything you have nothing to worry about, but i think its more the principle of it. its excessive, it's a bit too controlling. you need to put a line somewhere so that it can't go too far. extremes happen little by little, and if you allow this then it keeps going with other things.

not that it really effects me, just my two cents on it.

I think it would be good on the crime side of things but I simply would hate to give my details to a government that I see as untrustworthy.

The thing is, if someone wants to fake one, they can, and they will. It always will be broken.

I don't mind. If it saves a hell of a lot of time and catches criminals quicker then I'm all for it.

And Taker, our government are Social Democrats, not Socialists, there's a massive difference.

They aren't. People are concerned at the government losing information all the time and as Alex said, it will always be broken.

Oh no, If you didn't know Ken Livingstone is a big socialist and so are Brown and Blair. Ideas like everyones fingerprints on a database are what socialists agree to.
