You void the warranty on the PS3 if you remove the hard disk, same with the laptop i think. Only a few companies allow user modification without voiding the warranty

the ps3 has a sticker at the top but not on the hard drive bit
and my laptop has stickers on it saying void if any stickers removed [the hard drive i mean]

I was gonna buy a nice little laptop from dell for £130 but i just dont have the money. but the one i have is crap and horrid and the dell one is really nice

seems a bit pointless, if you balls it up in the process of doing it you're wrecking a machine that costs a few hundred quid, when you can buy a 500GB HDD for less than £100 (for a PC, anyway)
It won't work... because the hard drive is already set up for running on a PS3, and you wont be able to boot but im not sure if im getting confused with 360 now though.
You would just have to format it. It wouldn't be that difficult really.
If you really need a new HDD and don't wanna stuff your PS up, just buy an 80GB one or something. They cost like 10 pounds.
