I don't really read the name changes or events threads, they don't interest me, but some people may actually want to go to the events or care about how they went.

It's just a way of letting users know what's been happening. Users are encouraged to check the announcement forum is general.

I can imagine the thread will be bumped soon anyway with updates.

How could have i checked when the forum is slow.

Maybe it good for saying this event was good, but at important times like srever going down, the improatant news should be posted and stayyed at the top to let everyone know, otherwise people ask questiopns

Announcements are there for users to see important and interesting things that have happened on the forum. You'll find many users read them with interest and they are good at advertising events etc that are going on but also a way of celebrating good work and events that have happened.

No - announcements are not for "interesting things" - announcements SHOULD be for important information that needs to be (or should be) known by the members.

For example, would you see this:

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: BBQ - GREAT SUCCESS

I would like to say that my BBQ was a great success. Congratulations to John Prescott who won four sausages, and my wife who won a burger. It was a great turn out.

They may not know there was any newer and more important announcements, i only view latest unless im mega bored ^_^

Yeah - important announcements need to be read - but when there are stupid posts bumping them down, whats the point.

Yeah it is annoying when you see a thread called 'FALLING FURNI- SUCCESS' instead of an important announcement.

There isn't really any need for it.

Why? The most important ones should of been on top, quick ref/access.

Specially the DDOS thread untill its sorted should of been kept ontop for several reasons.

With the current system the Falling Furni would replace the Danger to forum accounts thread. As soon as a user logs in, they see the latest announcement... There should be a Important Announcements board and a Forum/Community Announcements board.

not always, sometimes people are busy! that means that they can not attend these. As i said before, people read this with intrest. Why try and stop them?

Exactly, your not lazy are you you can be bothered to move your mouse a little to the left, click, then another click. Honestly people its not that hard!

Thats the point of the 'REDIRECTING SYSTEM!'
OR! They could bump the thread every few hours.
