Help with router

Right okay. Just to say, the router Mac address has nothing to do with getting yourself unbanned from a server.

Righto. Can you remember what the original mac address for the router was?

Can you post a screenshot of where you are changing the mac address? Because i have never known a router on which you can do that. I have a feeling you are changing the mac filtering.

Its not mac address filtering, look under Internet WAN

Sorry I don't have a picture of the actual page, just that but it shows I'm not using filtering.

But yeah when thats clicked it shows my current router mac address and it lets you change it however you like and also has a button so you can clone your computers mac address

Are you sure you didnt change the MAC filter options? - as if so you computer may be restricted from net ....

Your ip address internal to the network SHOULD be 192.168.2.* as assigned by DHCP on the router, not 81.105.* as thats an external IP, you'd ruin the NAT in the router giving yourself a public IP for whats meant to be a PRIVATE network.

Your best bet is ... grabbing your ADSL details (BB Username and pass, and conn type usually PPPoA). Turn the router on, press the small pinhole button at the back next to ethernet ports (usually), or underside down for a few seconds until the router lights flicker, now re-connect to your router. This has just wiped all your router settings, from there run through and configure your broadband details, your connection should then establish - with all the settings gone if your router doesnt work its faulty or your local ethernet interaction with the router is misconfigured - change everything to be assigned, as opposed to manually entering details.

I was on the phone with this damn person from pakistan for an hour not understanding hardly any words she was saying, giving me completely useless instructions which I've already tried, I've held down the reset button on the router about 10 times now but its just not helping :/

Are you pressing it down as in pressing it, then letting go, or holding it down for 5-10 seconds?

Another approach would be to manually assign IPs inside your private network range so on manual setup for your ethernet connection on computer, set your IP to 192.168.2.100, your subnet to 255.255.255.0, your gateway to 192.168.2.1, and your dns server to 192.168.2.1.

After doing so, and the connection resetting itself, try to access the web-panel (its a long shot but you never know) at http://192.168.2.1/. If that works, there is a reset settings feature - I'd recommend using it - as if the router is via DHCP assigning you a public address either its setting up some really unusual form of DMZ (unlikely), its NAT subsystem is screwed (more probable), you may have by some fluke assigned your router and your network card the same MAC code - if thats the case, you'll need to use the ethernet connection from a seperate machine (as it'll be the equiv of null routing); other and most likely thing is that you've not actually changed the MAC of the router - but instead enabled MAC filtering - depending on setup it will completely block foreign MACs - so i'f you've broken that the reset button trick should work, or try a single machine hardwired to router.

Okay well I put the the ethernet into my sisters mac and the 192.168.2.1 won't load, when I hold reset button, it reboots the router but doesn't seem to make 192.168.2.1 load.

Did you try manually assigning yourself an IP as instructed? - also what IP etc is it assigning your sisters mac?

nevermind fixed it

I just continuously reset the router from the reset button about 10 times and then router started working and then I just popped the belkin disk in and it configured it for me
