I agree it's easier to use their forum names, but I don't think there should be a rule added for it.

People being promoted isn't an extremely common thing, so if you see the announcements it should be pretty obvious who the thread is talking about anyway

I dont usually read announcements and think if i have to go off searching its not so good. maybe the thread title could be edited by staff? its just common sense to make it easier for everybody and not just the "in crowd"

That's fair enough, but I don't really understand why you think there needs to be a rule added for it. And in fairness, I think a lot of the time the username of the person does get mentioned, whether it is in the title or in the opening message. It is only occasionally that a thread like "Well done to Steve" gets made.

I'm all for people putting the persons forum name in the thread title, I just don't agree that a rule should be added for it

Maybe not a rule, but some common sense surely, there must be at least more than one Aarun, Ben, Chris, Dave on this forum. Mods need to get a little involved in this and edit the title after pm'ing the thread creator.

Well it depends because I don't think regular mods can edit the feedback forums, and I am not sure about SMods either :S

The reason I mentioned a rule is because unless its in black and white then theres a few people who dont listen. I am not one for more rules I think the simpler the better but maybe edit this rule a little to make things easier.

B11. Do not make threads titles which have no relevance to the actual post - Do not make thread with titles like "see this" or "something interesting" or something similar to these. Put a title which is relevant to the thread and not something completely different.

Yeah I can see where you're coming from. Although I usually know the person I respect that not everybody does and could feel excluded. I'll make sure from now on that the persons forum name is in the thread title.
