Normally I'd agree because I think kids need to respect their teachers and parents more but if they're being made to actually pray to a god they don't believe in that's kinda harsh

They're not, it was just a demonstration. In primary school we were all made to pray to God - even those who were Hindu and Muslim, is that suddenly immoral to everyone? No, because it's "our" god.

The Muslims in my primary and middle school were allowed to leave if there were Christian prayers going on and by high school no-one cared. If people really object to a practise surely they shouldn't be made to go through with it unless it has a proper benefit? Of course people can't go around doing exactly as they wish but a demonstration like this isn't necessary, and should have been optional.

I refused to take part in anything in relation to religion in RE - I know it's stupid but everything was about how Christianity was so good and Islam was the life any everything. It's stupid because I'm an athiest and every time I told my teacher that, she disagreed with me and actually gave me detention and referrals because I don't believe what she believed and argued against it. It ended up in me skipping every RE lesson after that and not taking part in the exam which cost me a GCSE but I refuse to learn about any religion, especially Islam because this is a Christian country.

I mean, why on earth would you know the answer to this question:
Catholic's are of the opinion that abortion is wrong, show how a Muslim's beliefes agree/disagree with this.

How the hell do I know? I'm not a bloody Muslim.

Another perfect example of why religion is bad and is ruining society.

It sound like your teacher was useless I think learning about other religions and faiths even if its just the basics is worthwhile if somebody brings something up at least you can give your opinion on it if ever needed and not look ignorant. I must admit I am not religious at all and think its all a load of rubbish but I do know a little about it and it does make me smile that people actually believe in most of the far fetched rubbish.
I am sure you will survive without a gcse in it lol no idea what use it would be to anybody unless they wanted to head towards the god department for a career.

Interesting to note that I am currently studying in a catholic based school. I myself do not have a religion, but there are people that are catholic, christian, muslim, buddhist in my school, and every day during assembly in the morning, we take a quick prayer, we just all join in and recite the prayer. Masses (sp?) and all, only catholics are required to join, but all others are given the option to join in too. We also are educated on all religions in our cirriculum.

There used to be racial riots in Singapore, but now I think it's all well. Sometimes we may just joke around in a racist way but its just like we don't really bother about it, just play along with it. I think that Singapore, being a multi-racial society, has been able to well, I won't say respect, but don't give any different attention to people of different races. The respect bit, I'd say, we still need to work on

They're trying to introduce all these tactics to prevent racism and yet incidents like these will just make people more racist.

Also i'm guessing the kids probably refused to do in an agressive manner/rude way seeing as I doubt no teacher is going to be stupid enough to give an detention for that, or could they?
