China would bend over backwards to go to war with America.

If something does break out, I hope we don't get dragged into it. I would rather not have england bombed because we are an ally.

None of the country split. The USSR was a confederacy just like the EU is - just a lot lot stricter when it came to who governed it, it merely disbanded. Russia stayed it's own country throughout, and even then Russia supplyed the other Soviet states with weaponry.

And outdated gear? The Sukhoi Su-37 and Sukhoi PAK FA are both 4th/5th Generation Fighters, thoerised to be able to hold their own against American jets, and probably better than the Typhoons we'll be flying.

Their tanks although perhaps not as good as the Abrams or our Challenger 2's, easily out number the amount we have and in a Conventional war, they could overwhelm American tanks. Though, against a combined Europe they probably couldn't succeed.

People do underestimate Russia, they do have a lot of black projects going on aswell.

Do you work for the KGB or something? lol yes i know that has meant to have dispanded. I was on about the USSR who were as one and played as one football team etc but when it split alot of players all went their own seperate ways to their own countries.
You seem to be well informed with you makes and models etc :eusa_clap I have been to Moscow and st petersburg not so long ago and the military vehicles, tanks and planes all looked VERY old and in a pretty poor state of repair but maybe they had lots of new stuff hidden away. I would sooner have russias stuff than ours in the UK because ours is really old and we cant even get out soldiers the correct kit let alone a decent gun.

I'm hoping to go for an Engineering Degree and head off to the RAF as an Engineering Officer as soon as I've finished my A levels so I'm pretty into Military Tech. It's captivated me since I was a young'un and I can't wait to finally get my hands on some and work with it

I'm fairly sure that after the split of the USSR, Russia would still have been the largest country and would offer the best money, equipment and lifestyles for scientists, engineers and developers than any of the other Soviet Bloc states - they'll have got the fair share of them.

In Moscow/St Petersberg, are you sure the gear wasn't for the Police? Doubt they have the budget to buy the new stuff. I guess all the decent offensive tech will be stationed at Key Points, some towards the south pointing towards the middle east and the rest on the western front somewhere.

The SA80 which I believe the English use (might be a different varient, cba to go look) is an overall consistant weapon, just used to have a tendancy to jam in the sand and heat. Hopefully the lack of kit is being resolved soon - there's enough public pressure and the top Generals are asking for it too, just down to the pen pushers.

Good luck with your future career

It seems they started upgrading in 2007 and will take until 2015 i never knew that so maybe I saw the old stuff. I only had a day in each due to a football match and not being able to fly to correct airport so got internal flights and we flew from some military airport that looked like graveyard for their planes lol

pretty good info here they must be spending all that money from the oil.

If Russia & USA goto War! Then UK would figh along-side USA, while India who has a close relationship with Russia would help Russia out. Then all off ASIA would be on the side off Russia and maybe Africa. While EU may go along-side USA! which = WWIII

India would side with the U.K and Pakistan with Russia, seeing as they're one of the main buyers of Russian hardware. China, Iran, North Korea and another country I can't for my life remember the name of would also side with Russia. The U.K, Israel, Austrailia, Canada, Japan and the Northern European Countries (Sweden, Norway etc) would take the American's side. France, Spain, Italy and Germany would sit on the fence not wanting to do anything.

If there was to be an American vs Russian conflict, I think it'd spark in the Middle East, most likely with Israel moving against Iran and America supporting them through the back channels - like with Special Forces and Intel and Russia doing the same with Iran. It'd blow up from there.

And Jrh, you might find this interesting - it's where all the American Planes get sent to be broken up. It's amazing.
I'll try and find you the pictures of all the crap the Soviets left in Afghanistan when they left.
    Edit - Afghan Tank Graveyard.
