I disagree, i'd put anyone before my current girlfriend. I'd gladly shoot any of you in the head for her.

With regards to your situation; if he's a real friend, he'll understand - if not, he's not exactly a 'best' friend. After all, there's nothing going on between him and this girl, so what right does he have to complain?
