I find it a coincedence that Warner Bros. release The Dark Knight this year which has broken records, on the 18th July, now they have moved Harry Potter to the 17th July. Maybe they are hoping for something similar to happen. I reckon they made this decision after Warner Bros. executives watched the film last week, and it was probably them who made it. It has to be a recent decision as the teaser trailer that was released a few weeks ago still said November 2008.

Yeah, cus James Bond, average gross of $250,000,000 per film will beat The Dark Knight which made $700,000,000 in less than a month !

And thats a shame, seeing as the book series is for kids but even more so for adults. And the films are becoming the same

The Dark Knight will be the most successful film of 2008 when the year is up, and I doubt that another will overtake its current reign next year, certainly Harry Potter, Twilight, or 007, will not.

Hmmm I wouldnt be so sure All five Harry Potter films so far are in the Top 20 highest grossing films worldwide, the first close to breaking the Billion Dollar mark.

Harry Potter 6 hasnt been released in cinemas yet, so if you're saying I shouldn't judge before Dark Knight is out on DVD, then you shouldn't judge till HBP is out in cinemas.

Edit: Besides all 5 HBP films released so far are in the top 20 of highest grossing films from Box Office takings. I didn't realise there was a whole other list including DVD sales etc.
