Ok, then I boot from XP CD, and choose it to be installed on that partition?

Yeap, just make sure you do install it on the 3.5GB one or you're screwed.

It does run on Home Premium, Microsoft won't support you though if you have any problems.

Ok I tried it - unsuccessfully

I pressed ENTER to install Windows XP onto a harddisk, and I got this message:

Yet My Computer displays the partition set aside for the XP:

I use XP and my system32 folder is 13GB, so you will need a bigger partition for XP.
Lets set the stage on fire, and hollywood will be jealous.

What you need to do is find out the chipset of your laptop and find out the drivers needed for your harddrive, I'm guessing your harddrive is a SATA drive which requires drivers for it to run, XP disc's don't have these drivers so you need to download nLite, Put XP Disc in and slipstream drivers into the XP disc and burn off a new XP disc. I had to do this to put XP onto a laptop, It took me a while to get it done but it did work in the end.
I used this tut to help me http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...-installation/
