I believe Mountain Dew didn't sell too well in the UK and was canned. Pun intended. It probably wouldn't be allowed to be sold in the UK with the American recipe anyway, as many US soft drinks contain ingredients prohibited in the UK - Coca-Cola tastes a little different in America through a different syrup, and Dr. Pepper has a completely different taste than over here.

Dr. Pepper tastes the same to me there, but if you've tried real root beer, it tastes like this stuff (not that i have ate any, it's the smell):
