    The mass panic from the peope who immediantly believe it's going to blow up becuase the word emergancy has been used, so they all riot to get of the plane people get trampled between each other and becuase of the tilt of the aircraft coming down the slides could be dangerous. All sorts.

    Yeah I heard about that 'Double' engine failure as well. The gear would of got damaged most likely on landing, probably came in too fast depending when the birds actually hit the engine and well yeah, hit hard, gear collapsed and s=damaged the body work above it.

    Over at the well known rumour network, someone is quoting someone on the ground at CIA who spoke with the captain of said aircraft with this chain of events:

    - multiple bird strikes on no. 1 engine
    - decision to go-around
    - multiple bird strikes on no. 2 engine
    - engines caught fire when spooling up
    - almost complete loss of thrust
    - captain has to abandon go-around
    - captain lands aircraft rather heavily due to lack of thrust
    - left gear collapses
    - aircraft comes to rest a short distance from the end of the runway

    I heard the same as Matt.

    NO1 engine faliure, executed go around, NO2 faliure, committed to land.. The captain would of course rather land on the runway than crash elsewhere - Thus decended at a rapid rate, with a higher speed and nose down attitute than normal in order to get it on the runway.

    Which would have ment a firm landing, thus damaging the landing gear - Although you might not think so, it was a good landing and both up front did the job they are paid to do.

    Remember the BA crash at Heathrow?

    They are similar incidents, but the BA had a problem with commands for thrust. The Ryanair got beat up by birds.

    Both are concidered a crash although the BA was worse admittedly.

    Yeah, pretty close to the road as well, would of be much much worst if it didn't make it, but the flight crew have done well on both of these incidents.

    If anyone wants to watch a bird strike in action, a spotter filmed this;
