I'll start with a cheeky bid of £350 for a friend lol. That's not including the hard drive. You keep that - you may have stuff on it you want to keep/don't want to run the risk of someone recovering your data off it and it's only 250GB.

Plus, can the Vista be activated/genuine again considering it's OEM etc.

Vista can't be reactivated on dif mobo. If you change hard drive just use same key and should be fine as its tied to mobo.

If you phone up MS and say your motherboard failed and you had to replace it, they will give you a new key.

I have replaced the motherboard (when my GigaByte died) and just rang them up and used the automated line, said it was installed on no computers yet and I was only going to install it on one and it activated fine.

But now it will activate without phoning up MS on this motherboard.

But changing the HDD is fine, you won't need to reactivate, I was going to do a complete wipe a few times, writing 0s anyway

    What he means is, http://www.dban.org/

It can wipe your HDD's seven/ times which is apparently the same thing the Department Of Defense does.

There's a YT.com video on it, I watched it and then used DBAN to wipe my old PC's HDD's. Link: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vVw49l...eature=channel. The guys a mega nerd but it is informative.
