I think your opinion was took in hand however its very arguble in many ways. The quality of the news that habbox brings is superb. Tom doesn't choose anybody to be in the news department he chooses those who has great quality of writing. This is purely because he wants the best for the habbox news readers ?

Like Ollie said - Most of the news staff have busy lives outside Habbo and also some of us have our exams - It's just a bad month- but the news that is being reported is quality. Its not about quantity as Missalice would put it

I dont know how it works these days but if news broke in the past then the news manager or a reporter would get a nudge if there were none available then management with access to the news system would write something if it was important/urgent.

Other management dont write reports but I do

Theres been a lot of news the last 48 hours - See front page
The other day I was in a toilet.
A voice came from the cubicle next to me: "Hello mate, how are you doing?"
I didn't want to be rude, so I said, "Not too bad, thanks."
I heard the voice again. "So, what are you up to?"
Again I answered, "Just having a quick ****... How about yourself?"
Then I heard him say "Sorry, mate, I'll have to call you back. I've got some **** in the cubicle next to me answering everything I say."

These are just the ones I found but I am sure many others havent been reported.
I remember last year when Habbox used to report news very quickly.
The Habbo UK News forum is better :\
To be honest the bit in bold isn't a surprise; 50 people as opposed to 7 or 8 (idk how many) news reporters are far more likely to report news quicker.

I think what you mean here are more (or more active) news reporters rather than better ones because I wouldn't call them bad reporters for a second; the quality of the news reports seems fine. If there was news that happened at 3 that still hadn't been reported by the time you posted ~10PM) that does sound like an area for improvement though
