too many people expect presents from their parents imo. its like the parents must comply with the childrens orders otherwise they're doing something wrong. kinda lame really if you think about it.

Yea, but my parents spend about 300 quid on me and I spend about 100 quid per gift on my present to my parents, I save up throughout the year and have about 240 in my bank account to spend on gifts for my parents and family. I do small jobs here and there and all the loose change it adds up. So Im not really saying give me a present and giving nothing in return.

Ye same paul, just annoying when like dirrty said, people EXPECT, dont ask and hopefully get something what they ask for. parents seem to want to buy their children THE best gadgets and toys to compete with other parents which is ridicilous! alot of the children dont want the stuff they have and will only do them damage in future not respecting things and then you have the risk of young children being mugge for ipods, phones etc.

Yeah, a few people from my area are getting loads of stuff but they dont even recognise the value of money even in this economic crisis and expect their parents to deliever through thick or thin.

I know ^ My mum n dad pay for things sort of backwards LOL my mum will get a bank load for so much and then pay if off over the coming year and then get another one nearer xmas, so although its a debt its not if you get me, no idea why she does it but will never spend more than what she has even if she wants to give us more than we want. And generally I dont seem to want much.. anytime of the year so xmas is kwl for me

Its just what we have grown up to expect from society's view to Christmas. All those people who say its over commercialised are just trying to make up for some disappointment they have felt on christmas.
