Well I'll be damned. The Sky Crawlers and Sword of the Stranger didn't even make it past the nominations - but La Maison en Pe**** Cubes, another nominated anime, but in the 'Best Short Film (Animation)' category actually won the Oscar! Kato Kunio, the creator of the anime short, also gave the best speech ever.
