    Also should have mentioned it before, if your iPod shows a monochrome battery charging symbol (instead of colour one) or "charging, please wait..." message when you connect it. This means there is insufficient battery for it to be shown on your computer or iTunes, you will need to leave it plugged in to charge it until it does display again.

    Sounds like its basically broken, try calling up Apple or take it into the shop you purchased it. I have an iPhone, they are similar obviously

    Maybe try and connect it to a docking station that support charging?
