WHAT'S WRONG WITH MINE LOL :@ goddddddd
all the ones you've just posted were hardly pointless, the pointless ones are in the food+drink section and the discuss anything and relationships where the same two/three people just post all the time stuff that's nothing to do with the thread & i know a few others have noticed and even said :/
usually if i report something valid i'll look back n it'll be dealt with, otherwise i just accept that it's not rulebreaking, so if you have reported and nothing's been done probably because it isn't that severe, otherwise .... report them :S

this is just little things and if they're going to start seeing them as rulebreaking this is just gonna get crap

I think a lot of confusion has come around as to what is actually pointless and what is not pointless. The situation of a post being pointless will vary from thread to thread due to it's nature and what you can actually reply to it.

For example, in the "video, jokes and funny" stuff section i would tend to more lenient to someone who posts only a few words or finds that particular discussion funny as you can't really expect an analystic report about how good they found it with a detailed analysis.

The best process of determining whether it is pointless needs to come down to if the message has any relation to the thread, does it give any feedback in any form or acknowledge any other posts or comments, is it basically a short opinion and what section is it and take into account what you can actually post about it.
Then you can check to see if a user has made pointless posts before and if so you can ad any clearly pointless posts to the usernotes and if it persists say at a number of 5 then you can consider any options to stop them doing it.

I think the process involved with dealing with pointless posts needs to be reitterated and correctly stated into specific actions as well as a message to members that if you continue then they will be dealt with.

It is not an easy task sorting this kind of rule breaking as it would be hard to issue direct first time punishments and for the fact someones opinion of pointless is not always shared by a majority of others.

Then shouldn't there be an amendment to the rule, that makes the "pointless" definition more specific?

I'm sure that could solve quite a bit of problems for arguments over warnings/infractions, edited posts, etc, when not all moderators/super mods have the same "good" judgement.

I sent lAscend a rather detailed PM a few weeks ago and I'm yet to have a reply so I really wonder whether there's much point PMing him, I'd just take it upwards to nvrspk4 or Bomb-Head from now on or simply just super moderators. The moderation has been incredibly poor recently.

Bring back someone like Alex who actually posted on the forum regularly, was a proper member of the community, and actually did some moderation when need be.
Aww babe, I love you too xxx

From working with lAscend I know he's very committed to what he does, so if the moderation is indeed very poor atm (which I wouldn't know because I don't use the forum all that much these days) I'd say the job is simply too big for one person to do alone. I know when I was FM he was usually the one finding all these errors because I was busy doing the high-up adminny stuff, so maybe an assistant would be beneficial?

Or maybe you're just exaggerating, idk

Defining pointless is nigh on impossible because there will always be problems with people saying "omg that isn't pointless innit". I think to air (sp?) on the side of lenience is far better for the atmosphere of the forum because it allows people to relax and make "jokes" (no matter how spurious that term is used on this forum) without the fear of red writing all over their posts. AFAIK this is the only thread in a very long time complaining that moderators are being too leniant, and its from a proven troll anyway who just seems up for making another fight.

Oh, and come on. http://www.habboxforum.com/showpost....9&postcount=19 That one was made at 3.20 AM and you posted this thread at 9.20 AM. Do you really want the mods to come on in the early hours and moderate? I don't even see the light of day until 12 on weekends.

    Apologies for feeding the troll.

May i also remind you that it takes more time for Normal moderators to find rule breaking because they don't have any kind of report system in place, but the super moderators do.

So in this case it is better to report them or if you feel they are important then best to PM an online super moderator Report Rule Breaking / Serious Abuse forum.

I will be taking a futher look into moderators and super moderators edits over the next few days.

    Thanks

Cause nothing gets done when I report posts. And if I remember correctly I did report a few of them, and, lo and behold, nothing has been done.

Matt does a so wonderful job and it's not easy trying to run a team and a forum, so give him a break.
