You probably will be able to unless your USB has hardly any space.

I tried to back up it said I need 24gb of space and I went to the store I got it, I now have to ring up the insurance thingy and it will take around 2-3 weeks. Talk about customer satisfaction....

If you want to just copy over your save files you plug your USB stick into the PS3, go to game - save data then just select copy on each save file and then select your USB.

Exactly the same happened to my 60gb, So annoying The Ps3 froze whilst playing cod 4, i turned it off and then it wouldn't read discs :S

Never had any problems with my 60gb, and I got it on launch day.

However saying that Ive never had a problem with my 60GB 360 and some of the old models are supposed to be terrible.
