Engine size approx 1.4-1.6. But under 2.0

get the 1600 (16v) over the 1400 (8v), twice the valves and better trim options.. the 2.0 (8v) GTI has the gti trim, brakes etc but it's not much faster than the 1600 (but has better interior, options etc).. don't expect it to be fast because it's got a GTI badge.. it's not. The only fast mk4 GTIs are the 1.8T (20v) 150 & 180.

The 1.4E is really poverty spec.. windy windows, manual mirrors, crap seats, no A/C, no trip computer, etc etc.. it doesn't even have a cup holder. The 1.4SE has the same engine but with more options if you know what I mean (leccy windows and that)

1.4 - Group 4
1.6 S - Group 5
1.6 16V S / 1.6 16V SE - Group 6
2.0 GTI - Group 10
1.8 GTI (non-turbo, sloww) - Group 10
1.8T 20V GTI (turbo'd) - Group 14

Have got a 6grand budget now, maybe 100-200 over.

Still cant find a decent car. I found 2 but they both sold this weekend!

Gumtree, Autotrader, Pistonheads, Some local garages.
