However if a thread serves no specific purpose, it's okay to go off topic as there was no point in the first place, however the post a pic thread has a purpose, therefore it's wrong to go off topic.

The thread was used for both pictures and conversation. The conversation is okay because it's in the spam forum... I don't see what the problem was with it being there and being used as it was? If there isn't a problem with something why try and fix it?

If you're saying the problem is some peoples pics weren't commented on then maybe it's because people had nothing to say? :S You can't expect every photo to be commented on, and i'm sure the posters don't cry about it.

I have one of the highest post counts in that thread and I really enjoyed posting in it, these new rules have completely ruined the thread and undermine the purpose of the spam forum completely.

When a thread is titled "Post a picture of you". That doesn't mean you can post pictures of other people that don't even have "you" included in the photo. That was one of the main problems in that thread. This is why the new thread was created and new rules for this not to happen again.

If you would like a thread purely for conversation - make one and if it proves popular we'll see if Forum Management would be willing to stick it.
