    You sure? It sounds like the sort of problem you get from things not being in the right port.

    Well re-looking at the switch, on the back it has labelled all the ports but they're just labelled LAN 1-8.

    Try the modem plugged in a socket other than 1 or 8. If it doesn't work then I don't know, sorry.
