    and about the -rep comment
if you -rep someone it cuts ur rep in half so if i -rep you you'll lose 2 not 4. But if i +rep youthen you'll gain 4

With the current reputation system it's very difficult to see what a users "reputation" is, there's only so many blocks you can fit on and no one can be bothered sorting through the rep powers to estimate how many rep points someone has.

With a Thanks system it's a clear number on display to everyone so the reputation is much more meaningful and it would also get rid of the nightmare -rep system which I think adds nothing useful to the forum. Unless some idiot suggested a "No Thanks" as well

Go for it, a thanks system is much better.

yeah they're both alright. not bothered either way. i think the rep system is quite apt and have always said "why fix what isn't broken" - nothing wrong with the rep system. isn't much controversy about it any more, well not in comparison to what there was.

    I prefer the thanks.
There is less arguing over it but I find without rep, people are more likely to post the negative things because you can't 'unthank' someone.

Yeah but if you don't like someone's post, you give them -rep.
If you can't do this, chances are you'll comment them something mean which would cause arguements
