It should allow you to save your contacts. Mine does. When you plug your iPhone in, does it say Syncing? If it does then its saving your contacts etc. You can then reformat it and they backup will be available on your computer to transfer back

Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't, whenever I plug it in now I get about 3 pop ups saying theres updates etc. etc. and I always just close it.

Well the last time I looked into this was whenever I posted this thread, which was ... beginning of october, only bumped cause i saw it haha.
