I'm pretty much going to say what others have said and say it's your life not theirs.
I know everyone wants to make their parents proud, but when it comes down to things like future occupations and things like that you have to put yourself first, whether your parents like it or not. You should not have to feel pressurised into doing/being something you don't want to be, because at the end of the day your the one thats going to have to live with the regret of not doing what it is you want to do.
I honestly hope it goes well with telling your mum tonight , she should be proud that your taking your future seriously!

Just tell her. And if all goes wrong tell her you could be a university lecturer or something and still get professor before your name. It's still teaching .

It's your life, job prospects of being a teacher is much higher than being a forensic scientist. Where the jobs counts is better.

Some Universities offer to do education at the same time as doing a degree. I was doing Computing Science with Professional Education. Meaning I could become a qualified teacher in 3 years but also have an Honours degree after 4 years.

    Reasearch everything out thoroughly

Obviously you have to go into university in teaching, then do your MA. Start in the low rank working in a primary school as part of your past experience then make your way up.

Just go to your parents, that your eyes are set on teaching.

I kind of had the same problem, about a year ago i wanted to be a forensic scientist but i didnt get the grades in science. My parents was well behind me to become a forensic scientist and they said they was so proud i wanted to be something that i know i'd enjoy. But when i never got the grades, plus i had kind of changed my mind to peforming/acting (im doing btec acting at college now) i just had to come out with it to them, tell them i wasnt getting the grades, i knew i would get the grades for drama, and they was behind me. Plus its not asif your changing alot like me, your still doing science which is really good! Good luck
