    It's possible it might be a laptop issue. My laptop has this exact same problem, and it appeared the "battery is incompatible" - how that's possible I don't know It depends if Dell have their own update system seperate to Windows Update (like Sony VAIO have a VAIO update service).

    You need to be careful, my Dell stopped recharging for alternative reasons. My motherboard was feeding back power to the power adapter and zapping them .

    According to saynoto0870 Dell's support number is 01344 373186 much cheaper than their 0844 number. Just ask for technical support. Give them a ring and see what they say. Of course the agent will want to help you (its programmed into the call centre operators from overseas)
