Yes, there was plenty of bandwagoning which is why it's ridiculous when so many idiots on here apportion the blame on Opera. Heck, it's not like domestic civil litigation where it would have been Opera and Microsoft... it was the EU who investigated an anti-trust claim about Microsoft. Totally different, and I wish people would grasp that.
Are we forgetting that Mozilla are the ones to be complaining about? After Microsoft revealed a mockup of their "browser chooser", Mozilla were complaining that Apple's Safari was first in the list (alphabetical by company), and gave a number of suggestions which, funnily enough, would have put Firefox first. One of the ridiculous ideas was to put them in order of market share, but put IE last. Truly ridiculous.
I don't hold anything against Opera. Their involvement was totally blown out of proportion by people who quite frankly don't have a clue. They have a quality web browser.

I blame the EU tbh. I did wonder about how Opera managed to cause such an uproar all by themselves . Do we know what the final browser chooser is like?Yes, there was plenty of bandwagoning which is why it's ridiculous when so many idiots on here apportion the blame on Opera. Opera is still my second best browser after Chrome. I rate Firefox equal to IE now, based on the final experiences I had with it.
Aha, it seems so long ago we got together to take down the bandwagonersYes, there was plenty of bandwagoning which is why it's ridiculous when so many idiots on here apportion the blame on Opera. Yeah its a shame that horribly biased and malinformed news story was given any exposure on here because it seems to have skewed the opinions of a lot of people (according to opera's market share a good number of them had probably never touched it anyway). Personally I love the thing, I use it on my media centre and my main desktop pc because the speed dial, password management, basic email and RSS support all work so flawlessly; its just a really good well polished package with a ton of features. Firefox seems a bit rougher around the edges (massive stability issues with 3.5) and chrome is too lightweight and featureless for me to use it as my main browser but I use it on the laptop for precisely that reason. Never really bothered with safari, I just don't really like the appleish skin they have on it.
So yeah, awesome under appreciated browser that gets far too much unfair stick because a company (together with GOOGLE AND MOZILLA who make CHROME AND FIREFOX) decided to bother to speak up in support of something. Some things just get blown way out of proportion![]()
Opera's font rendering is HORRIBLE. I don't know what exactly it is, but compared to Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari the fonts look huge compared to them, and they just don't look right, which is why I don't use it.
