This setup means that computers can see my computer, but to access any files on it they have to use a username and password that is setup on the computer as a normal user account and it won't share any media.

Start > Control Panel > Manage advanced sharing settings > Home or Work > Untick/tick what you want, this should also solve your Media thing Gomme.
