    oh im not saying your methods wrong, it would work if A=3 B=4 and C=5 but the way that hes given it makes it not possible to use that method.

    right angled triangles has to have the longest side opposite the right angle, otherwise its not right angled.

    Oh yeah, I see what you mean. Either it's really not to scale or the measurements are wrong .

    If I'm correct, Meree is correct. Multiply all the sides together.
    This is never the case when working out the area of any 2d shape, i think you and Meree are getting confused with the perimeter, where you add all sides of the shape.

    1/2*B*H does not apply if it is not a right angled triangle, not if all sides are different.

    Maybe the OP could post the whole wording of the question, with a better diagram.

    I just didn't want to post the answer, people should work for it.

    don't you use herons formula as you know all sides of triangle?

    s = 12 / 2

    A = √6(6-5)(6-4)(6-3)
    A = √6(1)(2)(3)

    A = √(a+b+c)(a+b-c)(b+c-a)(c+a-b)/16
    A = √(5+4+3)(5+4-3)(4+3-5)(3+5-4)/16
    A = √(12)(6)(2)(4)/16
    A = √576/16
    A = √36

    dno not done that stuff in like 4 years ;l

    edit; is it a right angled triangle or not? :S

    ah k, would have been better posting the exact quest instead of making one up as evidently its failed due to incorrect figures and by looking at the image can't judge if its right angled or not

    also i'm nto english so don't know whats covered
