360 or ps3?

PS3 - New premium feature soon, will out-run the xbox easily when its released, did i mention when its released you can still do all it can do now and more for free? Unlike the xbox where you have to pay to play online.

I'm fairly certain the bog-standard Xbox live (the free one) allows online play? Or does it only allow access to the online store?

I would say I like the PS3, it's a nice idea but came out too early - Bluray takes ages to load and it does take ages to load basic scenes, longer than what a PS2 does. Heck, the Wii is the faster of the 3 consoles :/ But out of the 360 and PS3, I'd say the 360 is probably safer, though both have pretty crap games that were clearly created in short amounts of time to make money (GTA IV being one of them).

What it really comes down to is games, which has the most exclusives you want? If you desperately want Uncharted 2, get a PS3, if you're a massive Halo/Gears fan, get an Xbox 360. And another important factor is, if you want to play friends online, just get the console most your friends have

Easy answer, get both. If you can't get both then get a Wii and piss both parties off .

Apparently the PS3 marketshare has increased recently and is only 5% less than the 360 at the moment.... and increasing. Blame all the middle aged men who convinced their wifes/girlfriends that if they get a Blu-Ray player then they may as well get one which plays games as well.

I personally have only a slight preference because the PS3 is only better because of Blu-Ray and because of free online gaming (Not to mention Folding at Home and the fact that you have to pay extra for Wi-Fi and for rechargeable controllers). And in terms of the online services I couldn't care less, all I want to do is game online I don't want to create a tacky avatar which only my friends ever see and I don't want to write a gazzilion user profile fields with the on screen keyboard stuff that is awful on the 360 and only marginally better on the PS3. But the 360 does have episodic content for GTAIV which is pretty awesome.

I have both, the answer is pretty simple.

If you want very good online play & more exclusive games then get the Xbox 360.
If you want online play for free (not as good as 360 Live premium, though) & BluRay capability then get a PS3.

But it really depends on personal preference, both are good consoles, both will give you what you need, both come to about the same price (when you add the 360s wireless adapater & Xbox Live fee). Most importantly, choose the consoles which your friends use more.
